Who we are

    

MANAGING DIRECTOR – DAVID ALEXANDER   

As Calacus founder and Managing Director, David Alexander has worked in the media since the early 1990s.

Having started in local newspapers, his career went on to span national newspapers, broadcasters including the BBC and Sky, magazines, a host of online titles and a spell in Italy for Reuters news agency.   

In 2003 David moved into Public Relations, working in-house for Berkeley Homes. He then worked for global PR companies including Weber Shandwick, Hill and Knowlton and Porter Novelli, working across corporate, consumer, sports and technology accounts. 

Specific clients have included: Gillette, Paris 2012, SpinVox, Gala Coral, the Football Association, the Rugby Football Union, Generations for Peace, the Malaysian Palm Oil Company, Hilton Hotels, Carling Cup, Marcel Desailly, Drivecam, Boehringer Ingelheim and Regus.

Particular specialisms include international communication and media programmes, public and community relations, sports communications, corporate and consumer PR, celebrity and guest relation programmes, crisis and issues management and media training. 


  

CONSULTANT – HANNAH SLATER 

Consumer, corporate and social media PR expert Hannah Slater joined Calacus in the summer of 2011.

With strong media relations skills, her experience ranges from sports to telecommunications, finance and international innovation.

Hannah started her career in radio as a producer for BBC Hereford and Worcester and a presenter on Xpress Radio in Cardiff before moving into PR.

Her core skills include copy writing, project management, corporate identity and strategy and media relations.

Hannah is an expert in media and community relations, media management, celebrity/observer and guest relations programme management.


CONSULTANT – SUSIE TAYLOR 

Susie Taylor has worked in public relations for 12 years.

Her varied experience includes managing major media and analyst launches, copywriting, stakeholder relations, corporate identity and strategy.  

Susie has worked across a number of industries including meetings and events, computing, management, recruitment, building, housing, environment, healthcare, telecoms and government. 

Clients have included Samsung, Monster Europe, Microsoft, Cisco and The Carbon Trust.  


CONSULTANT – GORDON MASSON

Gordon Masson has been working in the media for more than 20 years.

After working as a journalist for local and national newspapers, he worked as an international science journalist, which involved conference speaking, lobbying and analytical reports on key players in the telecommunications business.

He has been contracted to carry out strategic planning for record companies, focusing on the economic benefit and corporate social responsibility aspects of major investment projects.

Gordon has media relations and PR campaign strategy experience including expertise in media and community relations, media management, celebrity/observer and guest relations programme management.


CONSULTANT – ABY HAWKER 

Consumer and corporate PR expert Aby Hawker has been promoting businesses for more than a decade both in the UK and internationally, coordinating pan European campaigns for clients in sectors ranging from automotive technology to male and female grooming.

She has been responsible for the strategic development and  implementation of numerous consumer campaigns and was a core part of the 2006 SABRE award winning team for Best Publicity Stunt for British Airways.

Aby’s core skills include copy writing, project management and media relations. She also speaks Italian and German. 

Clients have included British Airways, Gillette & Braun, Umbro, Warburtons, Regus and Ribena.  


CONSULTANT – KATRINA DE JERSEY

Katrina de Jersey has an impressive Games background including the FIFA 1998 World Cup, Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Manchester 2002/Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, FIFA 2003 Confederations Cup, Paris 2012 Olympic Bid, Doha 2006 Asian Games, Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Bid, PNG 2015 Pacific Games Bid, Beijing 2008 Torch Relay, Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, ICC 2009 Women’s World Cup, FIFA 2010 World Cup and Etihad 2010 Formula One.

Katrina was in China for one year as Senior Project Manager for the Samsung Task Force for the 2008 Torch Relay.  Well known by the Olympic Family, she provided Risk Mitigation and Crisis Communications for the Vancouver Olympic Winter and Paralympic Games 2010 (VANOC).  

Katrina oversaw Sponsorship Management at the Etihad Airways Formula One in Abu Dhabi, UAE.  Prior to that she project managed MarComms for the Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest, one of 16 official live sites worldwide for the FIFA World Cup 2010.   

She was also media manager for the Manchester 2002 Queen’s Jubilee Baton Relay, a 55-day relay around the British Isles.

A fluent French speaker, Katrina is consulting to Auckland Council for the Rugby World Cup.

Other clients have included: ICC Cricket Women’s World Cup 2009; Papua New Guinea’s successful Pacific Games 2015 Bid; Sochi 2014; Doha Asian Games 2006 Torch Relay; and Paris 2012’s Olympic Bid.
